I know that people follow me on facebook and instagram and they are under the assumption that all I do is workout! Which is understandable since I share about workouts quite often, but really I don’t! Lately I have been spending 22 minutes per day + some days I add in a 20 minute run or a 10 minute core workout! I hardly EVER workout for more than an hour! That is one of the things that I love about Beachbody. The workouts are short and very effective. As long as you are following the nutrition plan fairly closely, you are good to go! Do you want help finding a program for you? I have groups starting now that you can join for accountability and motivation! If you are ready to change your life and feel great about yourself you can contact me and I will get you set up! firstname.lastname@example.org
Wanna see what a 22 minute Hard Corps Workout looks like? Here is a clip of my workout today!
Something that I really noticed the last few days is that since I ditched coffee I am sleeping SO MUCH BETTER!!! Usually I wake up a lot throughout the night. In the morning when the kids are up getting ready for school it would wake me up every time. Well, not anymore! I wake up and feel very rested! So, why is good sleep important anyway? Well, there are lots of reasons and it’s way more important to your health than you may think!
-Over time, with poor sleep your overall health can deteriorate. There are studies that link poor sleep quality to heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.
-It can also affect your sex drive. If you are too tired, you will not have the energy for lovin! Impaired sleep in men can also lower testosterone in men.
-Less aches and pains. In studies, people who have chronic pain felt it less when they got quality sleep.
-Lower risk of accident and injury. If you are exhausted, you are way more likely to get into an auto accident or even injuries like slips and falls.
-Better Mood! You are way more likely to be cranky if you are tired!
-Better Weight Control. there is a hormone called leptin. If you are lacking sleep your leptin levels are low and you will be more hungry. Also, if you are more rested you will have more energy for your workout!
-Clearer thinking. You can definitely think better when you are refreshed after a good night sleep!
-Better Memory. Sleep loss makes you forgetful!
-Stronger Immunity. Some studies are showing that people who had their 8 hours were less likely to get sick when exposed to a cold or flu!
Honestly, this last week without coffee was pretty uneventful! I only had one headache on Friday. It was day 3 of my refresh, which sometimes that in itself can cause a headache. I had a green tea and then I was fine! One thing that I do notice is that I am sometimes more hungry in the morning because coffee kept me from being hungry. I would put sweetener and soy milk in it and it pretty much filled me up! So I have noticed that I really just want something in the morning to drink or something to make me feel like I am having something special, ya know! Like coffee 🙂 But so far, it’s good! And I do have more energy! I made a short video for you guys with my reviews of the different products that I am currently using! See my previous posts if you are wondering why I gave up coffee! I am pretty sure I have some adrenal fatigue for various reasons and now trying to heal through good nutrition! I hope you continue to follow me on my journey!
Today is Day 3 of the Refresh! I feel great and still coffee free! I was down about 3lbs this morning when I weighed in. I am happy with that! I think by doing 22 minute hard corps, running, and eating healthy I can drop those extra 8-10lbs that are left! Actually, I always lose when I give up coffee because of the added calories in the milk and sugar that I put in it! Even if it’s almond milk and agave nectar, it’s still extra calories!
Here is my dinner last night
and here is my yummy cafe latte shake this morning!
My 22 minute hard corps workout for today was Cardio 2 + Core 1. I thought the cardio 2 was a little tougher than 1! I was drenched in sweat and gasping for air 🙂
Here is my video of the 7 moves that this workout consists of!
Even though I am only 4 days into coffee free, I feel like I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for being able to feel better and not get sluggish in the afternoons and I am hoping my weight will go back to where I am happy and comfortable! I will do a video tomorrow and give my full review of the 3 day refresh! So stop back for that! Happy Friday!
I knew I was going to enjoy the cardio in this program, but didn’t know how badly I needed it! I have always been a fan of military style or bootcamp style workouts. After being a runner for so many years, it just fits in well for me. The fact that it’s only 22 minutes is even better because I can finish it quick and then head out for a quick run! I have done this 3 days in a row now and I feel amazing! My legs are a little sore mostly from the running, but nothing major! I am also on Day 2 of the 3 day Refresh. I am feeling great with that too! Not hungry, no headaches, down 2 lbs so far. So excited to get myself back on track with running and eating right! I would love to help you if you would like to join one of my groups! They are ongoing and you will have support for your workouts, nutrition, motivation, etc! Here is me on my run today! I ran up that hill a few times haha!
And here is a video of me doing the last 2 minutes of 22 Minute Hard Corps Resistance 1! Doesn’t that look like fun?!? No, seriously? 🙂
and finally, here is my snack this afternoon! The snacks are pretty light on the refresh! 1 veggie + one healthy fat, so I cut up cucumbers and put avocado in the middle like a little sandwich 🙂 pretty yummy!
I have finally decided that I need to come to terms with the fact that coffee is not my friend!! I have always know it, but I don’t like to admit it! The first time I became addicted to it I developed several kidney stones. These were extremely painful and I never want to deal with that again! So I quit coffee and went on a raw food diet and felt incredible! Then in the summer of 2012, my son Brayden started making coffee everyday because he loves it! When he makes it and I can smell it, I want to drink it haha!!! Now I am realizing that after doing some research I believe that I have adrenal fatigue and coffee is the worst thing for that! I was under great amounts of stress for pretty long periods of time. In 1998, my husband at the time was in a severe auto accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. My older son Brayden was only 8 months old. His healing was a long slow process and it also changed all of our family dynamics, which was stressful as well. Then in 2004 my younger son Cooper was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer. As you can imagine, my stress levels were off the charts with this one! We spent a year of surgeries, chemo, radiation, the works! Then the next 2 years consisted of regular scans to make sure the cancer did not come back. I feel like all of that took a major toll on me. Then in 2011 we started the foreclosure process on our house of 13 years and I filed for divorce. Since that time I have been dealing with making sure that my 2 boys are taken care of and also dealing with having a new relationship and working our way through merging 2 families! I am very happy with where I am currently, but it’s been a LONG and STRESSFUL journey! I am sure that my adrenal glands have been shot for awhile! I read the list of symptoms and I have many of them! So now I will embark on the journey of healing that! I think getting rid of coffee was the first step! Now I am starting the 22 minute hard corps workouts and today I started day 1 of the 3 day refresh! I actually feel amazing already! I am still drinking my Cafe Latte Shakeology first thing in the morning. It has coffee fruit in it, which is different than drinking coffee. I think that will help me to not have withdrawl symptoms. None so far! I hope you stop by and check in on this journey! If you need any help or you would like to join one of my workout/nutrition groups you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org!
